✨ HAPPY HYPERMOBILE HIPS PROGRAM: https://courses.sheldrakepilates.com/happy-hips-1

If you're a bendy body who's been doing your best to stabilize and strengthen your hypermobile hips to reduce back and hip pain, but not much has changed, then I’m guessing you haven't tried exercises for this part of your body that I’m going to talk about in this post! It's where I start all my work with hypermobile clients who have hip pain.

What many people often get wrong is thinking that where they feel the pain is always where the problem starts.

For example, "I have lower back pain when I walk, so there must be an issue with my spine or hip area."

We then become laser-focused on trying all the solutions to solve in that area of body. And sometimes there is short-term pain relief! But if it comes back and the techniques from before don't work as well, it feels so frustrating!

With brain-based movement for hypermobility, we begin by considering: where is the brain getting it's movement information from?

With the hips during walking, the pelvis and spine get their "marching orders" from THE FEET!

All those joints, muscles and connective tissues give key information to your knees, hips and lower back as you walk. If you step on a rock, your ankle adjusts which means the muscles up your leg and up to your hips and back are also affected!

This means if your foot’s joints and muscles aren’t able to move to their full capacity, then the hips and back have to compensate.

Compensation means that the hip and back muscles and joints get overworked and they will definitely complain!

The great thing is, feet are so foundational to good hip joint and spine function that you will feel a change in just days if you do feet and ankle exercises (like this one or this one) consistently!
