Core Exercises for Hypermobility: START HERE
“I keep doing core exercises at the gym and I rarely feel my core engaging.”
If this sounds like you, then you’re in the right place! Let me first reassure you that it IS possible to build core strength and feel core muscles working in a hypermobile body.
Challenges connecting to the deeper core muscles is something I hear consistently from hypermobile clients and it can feel really frustrating! Especially since most hypermobile humans have often been told frequently to ‘work on your core strength!’
With Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD), and hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), there can be various common co-morbidities like:
POTS,
MCAS,
GI issues,
pelvic floor issues,
low proprioception,
vision and vestibular issues (and more).
These often accompany a hypermobile body which make getting in touch with your core extra challenging!
We’re frequently holding and moving our bodies in specific ways in order to avoid pain.
For example, some of my clients always tuck their butts under because it reduces their lower back pain, or they squeeze their shoulder blades together so they avoid rounding their shoulders.
These adjustments give them the ability or support to get through daily life yet after a while those patterns start hindering their movement.
In the video below, you’ll learn the technique I teach all my hypermobile clients who come to me struggling to feel their core muscles!
Give it a try and let me know how it goes for you!
