How can Pilates lessons improve my pickleball skills?
To play the best pickleball you can and avoid injury, you can train in the following 4 areas:
Resistance Training: To put more power and speed into serves and shots.
Quickness/Agility Training: To move quickly around the court.
Endurance Training: To increase performance by avoiding fatigue during matches.
Hand-Eye Coordination: For tracking the ball and peripheral awareness.
Pilates is an exercise method that’s adaptable for pretty much any body, in any condition.
Pilates exercises focus on:
building joint and muscular strength
improving flexibility, particularly of the spine
better balance and proprioception
improving the capacity of your lungs
increasing joint mobility
functional and FUN movement
In Pilates for pickleball, we focus on improving your:
Spine and hip rotation and stability for more powerful shots and serves.
Ankle and foot strength and mobility for better balance and quicker footwork.
Visual exercises for tracking the ball and peripheral awareness for anticipating where shots will go.
Shoulder and wrist strength and mobility for returning dinks, lobs, volleys, serves, and drop shots.
